Please, for the love of God, vote "No" on Issue 1
Today is your last chance to send the Ohio GOP's latest abomination back into the pits of Hell from which it crawled.
Today, at long last, we will find out if Ohioans will laugh at the Ohio GOP’s attempt to get the public to vote against our interests or if we will cuck ourselves on behalf of some of the worst people in our backwater outpost.
Gun to my head, my official prediction is Issue 1 fails by five to eight points. I’ve seen predictions from people smarter than me that have it failing by 20 points.
I don’t care if it fails by 50 percent plus one vote. That would actually be hilarious, but I’m cool as long as it fails.
If you haven’t voted already, please do. You can read my full case as to why you should vote over here. If you have friends that are registered to vote but don’t take their duties seriously, please send them a text and nudge them to the polls.
It’s all hands on deck today, except for Congresswoman Emilia Sykes (D-Akron) and her husband, Franklin County Commissioner Kevin Boyce, who are in Israel hanging out with the authoritarian despot Benjamin Netanyahu for reasons only known to them and God. I guess they feel confident about Issue 1 failing tonight!
It’s understandable if you have creeping dread about tonight’s decision. It is Ohio, after all. And there is a non-zero chance that Issue 1 passes by a couple of percentage points.
But spending your day worrying about the result is going to do nothing to change it. If you’re the worrying type, try to do something productive—literally anything else—and save your anxiety for when polls close at 7:30.
We will know pretty quickly what kind of night it’s going to be.
You also might want to check your place of voting. This is a Special Election thrown together in a couple of months, and your polling location might have changed since the last time you voted!
Via Tyler Buchanan of Axios and the Franklin Board of Elections, here are the new rules around identification required to vote:
VOTER IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS / TYPES OF VALID ID. There are several types of valid photo identification.
Ohio driver's license; State of Ohio ID card; Interim ID form issued by the Ohio BMV; US passport; US passport card; US military ID card; Ohio National Guard ID card; or US Department of Veterans Affairs ID card
All photo IDs must have the following:
An expiration date that has not passed; A photograph of the voter; The voter's name, which must substantially conform to the voter's name as it appears in the Poll List or in the Poll Book
NOTICE: An unexpired Ohio Driver's License, State ID Card, or Interim Documentation with your former address IS an ACCEPTABLE form of ID when your current address is in the Poll Book.
As you might expect, I will have a full breakdown of the election, and hopefully a list of the night’s biggest losers, in your inbox at 4:33 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
As always, thank you for your readership! And be sure to follow The Rooster on Twitter and TikTok for all of Ohio’s depravity, all the time.
THOSE WMDs. How the ultrawealthy use private foundations to bank millions in tax deductions while giving the public little in return… My so-called stalker… The sudden, lucrative gold rush for old music… “I didn’t kill my wife!” An oral history of The Fugitive… A Nordic revolt against “ugly” modern architecture.
”Ohio Secretary of State @FrankLaRose was scheduled to vote and have a media event at 11 am, but spokesman Rob Nichols says that was canceled because anti-Issue 1 activists got wind of it and intended to protest there. LaRose will vote sometime later today, Nichols said” (- J Peltzer)
The "activists" were like 8-10 Clintonville moms with signs across from his polling place. What a brave and courageous stand by Sec LaRose (allegedly a Green Beret)
Score one for the Patriot's Caucus, we did it.
