The percentage of Clevelanders who vote should cause all of us to wear paper sacks over our heads in shame. One of the greatest indicators of a political system in free fall, is a democracy that most people do not participate in. I was reading an article on Cleveland politics during the Kucinich era and most city elections drew 70% + of voters voting. Gone are those days!

Randy, this is because we've let neoliberalism and the nonprofit industrial complex lead us all into complacency. We've given up on the idea of mass politics. I'm afraid much of the progressive activism in town these days has little interest in base building.

There wasn’t infighting during the Kucinich era?

Sure was but the connection between politics and the base has been severed. One article that got me thinking was an interview of Thomas Ferguson by Nick French in Jacobin. "Tech Capital is Dominating American Politics." Check it out. How is your writing going? Randy

The same thing happened last year, and 2022. At least then the candidates who either committed crimes who were accused, were left of the sample ballot. Brock is too busy getting into arguments with the new chair of ODP and avoiding another fist fight with the rural Dems to pay attention to the sample ballot process...

Also the costs of those pieces of fancy paper that get tossed is insane. Cuyahoga spent nearly 30k for last year's election...

People have been complaining about this stuff for at least 10 years and there have been attempts to change it through electing new committee members and/or new chairs and they've all been a complete failure. Brock, believe it or not, pretended to be a "reform" candidate for Chair who would change things when he get in office but he's done nothing to change these policies
