Critics of Columbus can say what they want. At the end of the day they’re jealous their city didn’t erect a statue of a roided-out Austrian bodybuilder and attract an annual circus like the Arnold Classic.
The city might as well announce a coronavirus cluster. I avoid downtown like the plague. The last thing I want is to bump into an insurance agent from Omaha with alien-levels of testosterone and get into a confrontation because he drank four Bud Lights for the first time in eight months.
Motherfuckers love that Arnold statue though. And hey, at least it’s not as embarrassing as the multiple statutes of rapist pedophile enslaver Christopher Columbus we have chillin’ around town.
WILL SUPER TUESDAY SWAY OHIO VOTERS OR RENDER THEIR OPINION MOOT?
Today is Super Tuesday which is what politically poisoned people like myself refer to the first time in our ridiculous presidential nomination process where multiple states vote on the same day:
Alabama
American Samoa
Arkansas
California
Colorado
Maine
Massachusetts
Minnesota
North Carolina
Oklahoma
Tennessee
Texas
Utah
Vermont
Virginia
Centrist afterthoughts like Mayor Pete and Amy Klobuchar have dropped out and endorsed Joe Biden, a candidate for elder abuse if there ever was one:
While Biden put all his eggs into South Carolina (a state he won with the help of Rep. Jim Clyburn’s smooth-running political machine) and hasn’t spent any resources on today’s slate until Sunday. Meanwhile Bernie Sanders’ squad has been on the ground for months and is poised to land a knockout blow by winning California and Texas outright among a majority of other first-place finishes including the home state of ostensible progressive rival Elizabeth Warren.
Sanders represents a new era of agitation for people already entrenched in power. So it’s of no surprise to see Cincinnati’s mayor, who is running for governor in 2022 with the the political instincts that led him to endorse some random number-cruncher from Indiana for president, concern trolling about the down-ballot effect of a Sanders nomination.
From Jessie Balmert of cincinnati.com:
Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley, who endorsed former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, told The Enquirer that he's "very concerned" that a Sanders bid would be too polarizing.
"They’re in disbelief. They can’t believe he’s winning," said Brian Garry, a Sanders delegate and advocate for the homeless, who lives in the Cincinnati neighborhood of Clifton. Garry offered some advice to fellow Democrats: "Wake up and smell the coffee, because Bernie Sanders does unite people."
Sanders' focus on healthcare access, climate change, a higher minimum wage and college affordability have forced fellow Democratic candidates to grapple with the issues as well, Garry said. "Bernie has pretty much single-handedly transformed the Democratic platform."
What people like Cranley always forget to mention is that ostensible level-headed moderate Barack Obama overlorded over 1,000+ lost Statehouse seats during his tenure.
The corporate wing should have consolidated after Iowa. Instead they squabbled over a futile attempt to replace the presumptive frontrunner who is likely to forget which state he’s in. It’s too little, too late — as we’ll see tonight around midnight.
FRANK LAROSE SHOWS HIS TRUE COLORS (AGAIN)
Secretary of State Frank LaRose campaigned as a sensible moderate who wouldn’t engage in the partisan electoral hackery of his predecessor with whom he shared a state-wide ticket. The media treat him this way because they have a compulsive addiction to the myth of objectivity, which makes them perfect marks for bad-faith actors like LaRose to prosper.
Republicans don’t want people to vote because their agenda is unpopular. They have their 33% needed to win elections, and they have no interest in expanding voting rights and decreasing their leverage at the ballot box.
We saw that laid bare yesterday when LaRose, previously an alleged proponent of a ballot initiative for automatic voter registration, reversed course and cleaved the petition in a way that would require organizers to quadruple their effort to get this issue on the ballot.
You almost have to hand it to Ohio Republicans. They engage in electoral fuckery in broad daylight and then they go home and sleep at night by convincing themselves that shitting on democracy is worth it in order to keep the liberals at bay, which is all that matters to them.
WHY ISN’T OHIO INVESTIGATING THE KNOWN PEDOPHILE CULT?
You can tell a lot about a politician by their relationship with other power brokers.
The Catholic Church is one of the wealthiest and most influential organization in the world and plays a large part in Western Ohio culture to this day.
Which doesn’t make it an easy target even when it’s been credibly accused the world over of harboring sexual predators. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has yet to investigate what can only be described as a rogue pedophile cult.
From Danae King of dispatch.com:
A year after the Roman Catholic Diocese of Columbus released its list of priests credibly accused of child sexual abuse, some survivors and advocates still are pressing Ohio officials to take action.
The list, one of many released by dioceses across the country, was spurred in part by a state grand jury investigation in Pennsylvania, released in August 2018.
But when asked why Ohio doesn’t investigate the issue, state officials point to a home-rule law stating that county prosecutors must request such an investigation before the attorney general can initiate it.
Home rule isn’t a reason not to investigate the issue on a state level, said Marci Hamilton, founder and CEO of CHILD USA, a Philadelphia-based think tank tracking state efforts on child abuse.
Though only county prosecutors in Ohio can call a grand jury, there are things the attorney general could do that several other home rule states have, Hamilton and other victims’ advocates say.
This is how the state government rolls. When it’s time to draw down on a wealthy organization that protects pedophiles, it’s simply a matter best left to the cities. But then the state government will go and step on those same cities if they institute common-sense legislation like bans on plastic bags. The hypocrisy is staggering.
BENEFITS TO GLOBAL WARMING: WE SAVED A BUNCH OF MONEY ON SALT
One nice thing about our planet hurdling to climate catastrophe is that it no longer snows during winters in Ohio outside of the random dusting. That means cities don’t have to spend as much money on caking the roads with salt that rust and devalue the cars our government policies force us to own.
From Bonnie Meibers of daytondailynews.com:
Ohio and local municipalities have saved thousands of taxpayer dollars on salt expenses and overtime pay, thanks to this year’s mild winter weather.
The state has spent nearly $38 million less this winter than last because of the higher than average temperatures, said Matt Bruning, an Ohio Department of Transportation spokesman.
February had only four days at or below freezing, according to the National Weather Service. The average temperature was 34 degrees. This unusually warm February followed an odd January, that never got colder than 13 degrees.
As of Feb. 9, ODOT used 279,228 tons of salt. By that same date last year, ODOT had used nearly double that, or 552,127 tons of salt.
Personally I think that $38 million should be paid out to Ohio drivers for car damage caused by our depleted infrastructure. I’m only half-joking.
JENA POWELL ONCE AGAIN PUTS TRANSGENDER TEENAGERS IN HER CROSSHAIRS
I would like to apologize to every transgendered teenager in Ohio. I foresaw what a train wreck Jena Powell would be as a state legislator, and I failed in preventing a woman who hates transgendered people and believes in gay conversion therapy from seizing power.
From Mary Kuhlman of clevescene.com:
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Defenders of LGBTQ rights contend new legislation in Ohio is part of a broader effort across the country to undermine equality. The bill would exclude transgender students from participating in sports that match their gender identity.
HB 527 would apply to all public schools and colleges, as well as private schools that are members of a state or national athletic association. Grant Stancliff, communications director with Equality Ohio, said similar legislation is being considered in at least four states.
"We're seeing is a sweep of bills across the country that are squarely aimed at transgender young people," Stancliff said. "In addition to this school athletics bill in Ohio, we also saw a bill which could potentially criminalize doctors, therapists and other medical professionals who treat trans kids."
Backers of the legislation - named the "Save School Sports for Women Act" - argue it would level the playing field for girls and women who might otherwise be forced to compete with biological males who are on an all-female team.
I must have missed this epidemic of transgender women sweeping women’s athletic competitions throughout the state. Perhaps it’s because current rules already require a year of hormone therapy and this is another non-issue created to alienate already marginalized people in our society… which I’m pretty sure is the antithesis of the message pitched by that Jesus fella these freaks always love barking about when surrounded by people who also believe he was a white man.
