Tennessee is always my go-to when asked about states that have politics as bonkers as Ohio. There’s no better example than what happened to the Tennessee Three.
For the uninitiated, three Tennessee State Representatives — two Black men and a white woman — joined gun violence house protestors when they took over the House floor last week.
These are the kinds of scenes we could use at the Ohio Statehouse. But that’s a topic for another day.
While Ohio took over a year to expel former House Speaker Larry Householder after his RICO arrest, the Tennessee House of Representatives took only a week to expel the two Black members of the Tennessee Three while hilariously letting the white woman off the hook.
The bone-headed move instantly turned them into celebrities:
Reps. Justin Jones and Justin Pearson can be re-appointed and are allowed to run in the special election, but it’s crazy that it came to expulsion when the Tennessee House hasn’t done the same to a child molester that’s still within their ranks.
This saga also taught me the phrase “cousin-mistress” which might put Tennessee ahead of Ohio in the “Bonkers State Politics Power Rankings,” at least for now.
This week in Ohio Man…
Did you not murder, rape, or burglarize anybody this week? Then congratulations. Your live is on a better trajectory than this week’s leading Ohio Men, who are not exactly covering our state in glory with their actions.
This week on The Rooster…
Back to the killing fields. You have to leave America sometimes to understand the absurd levels of violence we tolerate in our society.
Pretty sure Jesus hated liars. Two Holy Roller State Representatives must’ve read a different Holy Bible than I did.
As always, be sure to follow The Rooster on Twitter and TikTok for all Ohio’s depravity, all the time.
