On Monday, as thanks to President Xi Jinping’s Patriots Caucus, I announced a subscriber-only sticker and t-shirt giveaway. Those will start hitting the mail sometime next week.
However, I learned a valuable lesson. There were three questions to answer as part of the giveaway. Two of them involved listing two state legislators’ “place of residence.” What I meant was their city of residence listed in their Statehouse biographies (in this case, Monclova Township and Kitts Hill).
Some of you responded with the exact addresses of their homes. Others responded with Zillow listings.
All are acceptable answers that will win stickers and probably shirts. But I thought it’d be fair warning to say you might have put yourself on a federal watchlist separate from the one you’re already on for subscribing to The Rooster in the first place.
As thanks to the Patriots Caucus for supporting the spree of free posts through the downfall of State Rep. Derek Merrin (R-Monclova), The Rooster will be feature locked posts throughout the upcoming trial of disgraced former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder (R-Glenford).
Not a member of the Caucus? Fix that problem by taking 20 percent off the sticker price:
This week in Ohio Man…
It would appear that ol’ Householder is about to learn a painful lesson about how everyone in Republican political circles actively hates one another.
From Jake Zuckerman of cleveland.com:
COLUMBUS, Ohio – A close adviser to former GOP Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder, whose criminal trial begins Monday, will testify against his former boss, new court filings show.
In arguments submitted Wednesday, federal prosecutors confirmed that both Jeff Longstreth, Householder’s former political strategist, and Juan Cespedes, a former FirstEnergy Solutions lobbyist, will testify at trial.
Sure, State Rep. Jena Powell (R-Arcanum) kicked my ass in our Statehouse race in 2018. But at least I didn’t do mortgage or voter fraud in the two weeks before my old campaign manager appeared as a cooperating witness in a RICO trial.
This week in The Rooster…
Only four dispatches this week due to the federal holiday on Monday.
They should sell tickets to this freak show. On the predicament of State Rep. Derek Merrin (R-Monclova Township) and his holy roller allies in the Ohio House.
Methane as “green energy” is Statehouse 101. Can you email your State Senator and see instant results? Probably not.
Sportsbooks laughed at regulators all the way to the bank. Every major sportsbook laughed at Ohio’s paltry fines as the cost of doing business in the opening salvo of legalized betting.
Damn, Larry Householder is really about to rumble with the federal government. The largest corruption scheme in state history (that we know about) is set to begin next week in Cincinnati.
As always, be sure to follow The Rooster on Twitter for all of Ohio’s depravity, all the time.
