As mentioned in last week’s Rooster in Review that I forgot to unlock before sending, if you won stickers two Fridays ago, they should be in your hands. If not, please contact me on our email thread, and I’ll send you another round.
As you might have heard, Elon Musk’s $44 billion purchase isn’t going as planned, and it’s tanking Tesla. Frankly, I appreciate it when the filthy rich show they’re no more intelligent than the average asshole off the street.
While I do think Twitter, like a cockroach, will always survive in some form, it’s not crazy to envision the service becoming unusable since Musk shitposted his way into this $44 billion sinkhole.
That would mean trouble for me, the guy who based his business model on new traffic from Twitter. It’s probably a capitalist crime that I never bothered to create a Facebook. I figure we probably won’t get along if you get your news from Facebook. Again, I’m bad at this.
If Twitter were to tank, I’d probably shutter The Rooster in its current state. I would still write, but it would be entirely at my leisure with billing cycles ended.
Obviously, nothing is set in stone, but it’s something I think about, given that no amount of sternly written newsletters will change this state’s cursed trajectory.
As such, yearly subscriptions have been adjusted to $25,000 as a way to pause annual sales. This is only because Substack makes me enter a value. If somebody accidentally purchases a yearly subscription, they will be promptly refunded.
This week in Ohio Man…
You know it will never be a feel-good story when the Ohio Man makes an appearance in Butler County.
This week’s feature is about Austin Gene Combs, a 26-year-old Ohio man who shot his neighbor because he thought he was a Democrat.
From Jake Ryle of wcpo.com:
OKEANA, Ohio — The 911 call following a deadly shooting on Saturday shows a possible motive for why a neighbor allegedly killed a man.
Family members called 911 after hearing shots and finding Anthony Lee King, 43, unresponsive and bleeding in the backyard. The family told the dispatcher that the neighbor had confronted him before about some perceived political affiliation.
"He’s come over like four times confronting my husband because he thought he was a Democrat," the caller told dispatchers. "Why? Why? Please, I don’t understand."
Our leaders have blood on their hands in more ways than one with this murder. You can’t convince them of that, though.
This week in The Rooster…
Here comes the boom. Tuesday’s election results were easy to see coming.
Frank LaRose willed a friend “some rope and a tree” in high school. Ohio’s Secretary of State has a mole in his office.
Ohio goes hog wild. The largest bribery scheme in state history meant nothing to voters.
When a tree falls in the forest. Until legacy publications confirm The Rooster’s reporting, LaRose can effectively ignore a massive scandal. Unless…
Democratic machines fail Ohio (again). Turnout was down in Ohio’s ten most populated counties as big-city machines failed to do their part.
As always, be sure to follow The Rooster on Twitter for all of Ohio’s depravity, all the time.
