State Reps. Eric Synenberg, a Democrat, and Melanie Miller and Jason Stephens, Republicans.

Yeah, sorry, but in my book you don’t get awards for deciding at the last minute not to visit Auschwitz with Hitler on a propaganda tour during WWII cause your constituents outrage suddenly gives you a sense of conscience. To be this (supposedly) naive to begin with as a Statehouse Rep is exactly the problem. Anyone can open up their social media and see children destroyed daily, it’s not difficult to understand.

I agree in that it would have been better to never have agreed in the first place... but a Democrat like Liston canceling this trip would have been unheard of as recently as what, two years ago?

Won't be mad at her arriving at the correct decision in that regard.

Nah, it has more of a feel of its own propaganda purposes, to me. The OH Dems have been silent while all of this goes on for two years, it's not like she hasn't been in those meetings. Every single one of my reps (Council, Commissioner, Statehouse, and Congress) have taken these trips, all complicit. Congress is voting on rescinding passports for people critical of Israel right now... you don't get a trophy for claiming willful ignorance or performativity after the fact (like her entire response centering the Jewish experience and immediately going to a Holocaust survivor event, instead of meeting with the Muslim constituents that called her out). She's covering her own ass, and I'll die on that hill until I see legislation from her (or anyone) to remove anti-BDS laws on the books. All talk, no action doesn't cut it anymore, and thats all the Dems have. I have to watch babies get amputations without anesthetic daily, bro, I'm not celebrating this theater of the absurd.

I agree - I shouldn’t get credit for deciding at the last minute to do the right thing. All I can do is try to make the best from it. I have real concern that without clearly distinguishing between the Netanyahu government actions and the Jewish people it will embolden the Nazis we see marching out there these days. And for what it is worth, I did spend the evening meeting with Palestinian families in my district to hear their stories. They have way more courage than I do.

You are an MD and a PhD and you had two years to watch this massacre and still booked that flight. You only didn’t go cause your Muslim constituents guilted you out of it and you are even now centering Jewishness while Israel systematically crushes Gaza City and tens of thousands of children will die because our reps like you have sat on your hands for literal years taking their money to put yourselves in power. No amount of explaining and apologizing will ever make it right again until the people take back the Statehouse. Munira is the single rep with heart in that building and you’ve convinced me of nothing other than you are still most concerned with your image. Write some bills and prove me wrong. We both know you won’t.

Not gonna argue, I was wrong. Munira is indeed great.
