Rooster in Review: The hits keep coming for the anti-abortion zealots
The so-called right-to-life movement suffered another devastating blow late Friday afternoon.
Hand down, man down! The hits keep on coming for the anti-abortion freaks. Just days after Ohioans threw Issue 1 in the dustbin of history, the Ohio Supreme Court unanimously rejected a pitiful attempt to prevent the abortion amendment from hitting the ballot in November.
From Jessie Balmert of cincinnati.com:
The Ohio Supreme Court cleared the path for a November vote on abortion access by rejecting a legal challenge to backers' petitions.
In a unanimous decision, the Ohio Supreme Court denied a lawsuit filed by several Republicans to boot the measure from the Nov. 7 ballot. The GOP politicos had argued that abortion rights activists failed to include on their petitions the language of state abortion laws that would be repealed if the constitutional amendment passed.
The legal challenge was filed days after abortion rights proponents cleared the signature requirement to appear on the fall ballot.
As I wrote on July 31st, there was no guarantee that the Ohio Supreme Court would do the right thing in this case. Iām thankful that my paranoia was misplaced, even if Issue 1ās defeat undoubtedly helped solidify the court against this last-chance lawsuit.
At this rate, Iām almost pleading with Governor Mike DeWine to call an emergency session of the Ohio Legislature so I can get some of these freaks on camera about their embarrassing losses. It turns out that when you get addicted to winning through cheating, you canāt handle the heat when people get the rare opportunity to tell you to go fuck yourself.
There is still much work to be done in Ohio, but this week was about as good as any as I can remember since starting The Rooster in December 2018.
This week in Ohio Manā¦.
This week in the eternal travels of Ohio Man, he discovers that Texas is quite hot in the summer.
From Priscilla Aguirre of mysanantonio.com:
An Ohio man couldn't stand the Texas heat after visiting the state. Clay Alexander posted a viral TikTok video on June 27, trashing the Lone Star State's temperatures. He said he doesn't understand why Texans choose to live in a place so hot (we ask ourselves this too).
"Every single person that hypes up Texas is a f**king liar," Alexander said after visiting Dallas. "Why do you want to live there? 103 degrees from noon to 7 p.m.? What are you doing? You can't go outside ... You walk outside, you die. The floor is lava became a real game in a real city, and y'all choose to live there? No."
In the caption, he gave Texas a "2/10 stars" and would not recommend it. Alexander said it's so bad in Texas that he's excited to go back to Ohio.
Texans can take solace in the fact that this is the coolest summer for the rest of our lives since our government doesnāt seem intent on doing anything of note to stave climate change. But hey, at least they have cheap housing and an unreliable power grid thanks to their state governmentās deregulation.
This week in The Roosterā¦
America should have seen Warren G. Harding coming. The funniest thing about Hardingās presidency is he operated exactly like any Marionaire would be expected to do.
