“The Short North” used to be a derogatory term used by Columbus police to describe the neighborhood between downtown and Ohio State campus. Eventually, however, that real estate became desirable to Columbus business leaders as an incubatory laboratory for the city’s first real attempt at culture that didn’t involve the Ohio State Buckeye football team.
