These losers won't even defend their children
Senator Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green) let her colleagues pillage transgender rights despite having a transgender child herself.
The only way Republican politicians tend to learn empathy is if they’re personally affected by the social issue at hand
Dayton-area Congressman Mike Turner, a staunch Republican if there ever was one, is a famous example of the theory.
Turner, a longtime stooge of the National Rifle Association, suddenly reversed course on high-powered murder machines when his daughter was in the same neighborhood as a mass shooting.
But lately, Ohio Republicans have shown a willingness to legislate against their family.
We saw an example of that on Wednesday when the debauched retirement home that is the State Senate convened to overturn Governor Mike DeWine’s veto of HB-68, a dual-pronged attack on a sliver of Ohio’s population that identifies as transgender.
Senator Kristina Roegner (R-Hudson) started the proceedings with a long-winded rant that will age as well as a 1960s Southern Dixiecrat attempting to filibuster the Civil Rights movement out of existence.
"It is not possible for a man to become a woman or a woman to become a man. Gender is not fluid. There's no such thing as a 'gender spectrum.' Attempting to change someone's sex is a fool's errand,” Roegner said despite having zero medical qualifications.
She spewed that garbage with a straight face despite hearing, albeit not listening, to a litany of medical professionals who testified in opposition to the bill.
That stream of the testimony didn’t even stop Roegner from ghosting advocates after they already made the journey to Columbus to plead their case in front of one of the most powerful politicians in the state.
State Senator Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green), who is almost openly campaigning to succeed Frank LaRose as Secretary of State, came later in the proceedings.
She cited her experience as a former child in opposition to the legislation as if a six-year-old were currently able to walk into a doctor’s office by themselves and obtain a sex change in minutes.
“Mistake-prone children without fully formed brains” is how I would describe most of the Ohio State Senate. But I digress!
Senator Gavarone wasn’t as acidic as Senator Roegner in her speech during a proceeding where the vote to override was a foregone conclusion before State Senate president Matt Huffman (R-Lima), a domestic terrorist, convened the chamber.
But she offered no pushback to Roegner’s ideas that there is no such thing as a gender spectrum or that changing someone’s sex is “a fool’s errand.” She, like Roegner, showed no hesitation in her vote to overturn the veto.
On one hand, it’s not surprising Gavarone voted that way. But it is incredible when you learn that she has a transgender adult child who, like a lot of young people from Ohio, moved to New York in search of a better life.
Gavarone’s speech included a reference to being a mother of three children. But her first-born child, whose dead name I’ve redacted out of respect, used to be routinely mentioned in social media posts from the Senator’s official Twitter account.
That last picture, taken from the Gavarone home on December 25th, 2019, is the last time the Senator ever mentioned her first-born child on Twitter.
The date makes sense when you realize it was around this time that the child the Senator perceived as her first-born daughter began their transition into a non-binary transgender person who exclusively makes clothes for queer people.
Judging from the eldest Gavarone child’s public Instagram profile, they’re probably not the biggest fan of their mother’s political crusade against LGTBQ people back in their home state.
Gotta say: They seem a lot cooler than their mother!
Now, you might say that Gavarone didn’t vote against her child because the legislation dealt with minors since, by the looks of it, the eldest Gavarone child didn’t begin their transition until they were out of the house and living in New York.
I reached out to the younger Gavarone via Instagram yesterday. As of this writing at 3:23 a.m. on January 26th, they had not seen or responded to the inquiry. I’ll update this post if they do.
But it’s sickening that Senator Gavarone watched her colleagues pillage her child’s identity and not push back against any of it.
Instead, the Senator presented gender dysphoria, a documented medical condition, as something conjured by the half-baked brain of idiot children.
After the vote, Senate President Huffman said that any families who moved from Ohio to seek safe medical care for their children were of no material loss to the state.
From the venerable Morgan Trau of news5cleveland.com:
People may leave the state, but it won’t make a huge difference, Senate President Matt Huffman (R-Lima) said.
"I don't think that this issue, whether we did it or didn't do it, is greatly going to affect the population of the state of Ohio," Huffman added.
It's common for people to threaten to leave, he said, whether it's because they don’t like tax policies or school.
"I think it's true of a lot of policies help and hurt whether people wanna live in Ohio," the GOP leader said.
Typical terroristic behavior from Senator Huffman in shrugging at families facing the state government’s boot on the neck of their children.
But Senator Gavarone had nothing to say about families facing a situation she knew intimately. She bragged about her vote on social media:
Gavarone voted for the legislation despite families with transgender children and their doctors unanimously saying that such a ban on gender-affirming care for minors would lead to a spike in youth suicide, an issue that Gavarone has previously pretended to care about enough to film a worthless public service announcement:
Through the pain and human misery inflicted on others by Senator Gavarone and her ilk, at least the record forever shows that the distinguished Senator from Bowling Green is willing to spit in the face of her first-born child if it serves her ambitions of climbing Ohio’s political ladder.
May she have to run from that fact for the rest of her life.
Well written commentary. Sad, but well written. Silly politicians.
