Who's This Legislative Dipshit? Meet Stte Rep Adam Miller (D-Columbus)
A case study on how prominent Democratic state legislators weld their power.
It’s easy to serve as a politician within a minority party.. Nobody expects you to govern. You can blame any societal ill on the genocidal ruling party. It’s also easier to fundraise.
Democratic seats in the state legislator, while rare, is a $67,492 salary with full state benefits in exchange for working roughly 40 days of a year.
In a functioning society, these prestigious jobs would be held by militant workers who understood the beautiful concept of solidarity. They would, for lack of a better phrase, live at the foot of The Cross.
Unfortunately in Ohio these prestigious positions are reserved for guys like State Rep. Adam Miller (D-Columbus).
“Who is this legislative dipshit?” you’re probably asking yourself. This series is usually reserved for the hobgoblins that actually have power in this state, but an exception will be made today.
My beef with State Rep. Miller began years ago when I realized he represented the poorest neighborhoods on the state level while living in a wealthy enclave called “Marble Cliff.”
Maybe the losers are right. Perhaps I truly am jealous of a rich man who lives in Marble Cliff. But I also know our country once went to war over taxation without representation.
You can’t see a part-time job with a $67K salary and state benefits as a side job and represent neighborhoods where people would kill for half that without the benefits.
But that’s how it works in Ohio. Worse, one time I made a rash tweet if you can believe that. I asked why State Rep. Miller couldn’t bother to vote on legislation when he lived four miles from the Statehouse?
“He’s in Afghanistan serving as a JAG with National Guard in Afghanistan.”
That’s what the government wants you to consider a knockout blow. But my first thought is what in the Hell is he doing in Afghanistan?” Not like he was handling the business of the people!
“He can’t even post on Facebook when he’s deployed.”
And that’s where I diverge from the average American voter. Go ahead and salute the old white man who through a series of coincidences found himself in Afghanistan.
But don’t act like I’m insane for thinking the person representing the two poorest neighborhoods in Columbus should treat serving in the legislature as a full-time job.. It’s not like Ohio is i a Democratic bed of roses. He should stop doing the bidding of the military industrial complex in Afghanistan and treat his elected position as a full-time job.
Maybe you’re thinking we should give this guy the benefit of a doubt. We should excuse a grown man serving imperial interests halfway across the world. It’s good that the Hilltop and Bottoms are represented by a guy that sees a job in the state legislature as a side gig. There’s no way an Army lawyer could be bad person!
But consider his actions after the new legislative maps. He got drawn into a new district where he would need a better campaigning strategy than pretending living in the Hilltop as a child is the same as living in the Hilltop today.
A white man that understood America’s entrenched power structures would walk away. It’s not like Miller needs the money. He could fade away with the serenity knowing he voted for Larry Householder as Speaker of the House.
Instead, sources tell The Rooster that he has no respect for workers. He can work on the same floor of a building with you for a year and then swear he’s never seen you. That’s military brain.
Miller’s response to being drawn into a new geographical district was to rent an ghost apartment in Hilliard and use the state Democratic party apparatus to muscle Adhanet Kifle out of the race.
Kifle is the daughter of Emitrean immigrants. She sits on the Hilltop Area Commission. At the very least, Miller should recognize that the future of the Democratic Party looks more like Kifle than him. It’s not like he needs the money.
But Miller’s ruthlessness shows you the power of a minority seat in the Ohio Legislature. He would deceive voters into thinking he lives in Hilliard than make room for a younger, more dynamic candidate.
Personally, I don’t think any politician who buys an apartment to establish fake residency within a district is worthy of election. But the Ohio Democratic Party considers him an “incumbent” like he’s ever had to actually campaign.
A seat that Republican can’t win is a rare gift in Ohio. If Miller is the best we can do then we’re doomed.
THOSE WMDs. Why Oregon and New Jersey don’t let you pump your gas… The cracked wisdom of Dril… In defense of garlic in a jar… White parents rallied to chase a black educator from her job, then the followed her to her next one…
"They would, for lack of a better phrase, live at the foot of The Cross."
To put it another way: When you stand with the Lord, the Lord will stand with you.
