There's nothing to be learned from Mamdani's victory. It's too particularized a situation and I think the only reason the media (including, sadly, independent media) is tripping over its feet to find a bigger meaning or a "movement" is because they need something new and exciting as more and more people tune out Trump "news" and get away from following news at all. I mean, I've stopped reading anything about the Iran/Israel situation especially pertaining to Trump because what you read will be contradicted within an hour. Actually, in Trump's case, sometimes in the same sentence.
As a centrist, "wishy-washy" voter and no political junkie, I find Ryan to be a perfect candidate. You can read me the riot act backwards and forwards and obliterate me in the comment section with his most egregious acts that I am unfamiliar with, but until someone better comes along.....
I will point out what I wrote way back after a debate I watched with him and 2 other candidates in the Democratic primary for Senator. He was gracious to the woman who faltered and stumbled her way through the debate (and whom I felt terribly sorry for). Meanwhile, the other candidate, whom I believe was on the Progressive Left, walked away from the debate stage without so much as a handshake to her opponents. You can be ideologically pure if that's important to you, but that is not going to work to beat this Regime in power in our state or on the national stage.
