Rooster in Review: You can't talk like that, war criminal
The Business Line continues its ascent. Here's everything you might have missed while laboring under our capitalist system.
I’m kind of envious of the (at least) 25,000 Ohioans who will not know about Monday’s eclipse until it happens.
It must be a blissful lifestyle right until the sun’s rays sear the retinas when they look directly into the eclipse. Irreversible eye damage aside, I’m kind of envious of a lifestyle where people walk around with zero idea of what’s happening outside their little skulls.
Maybe I’ll try it in the next life because it certainly won’t be happening in this one.
For my Central Ohio folks, keep in mind that you’ll have to travel above the red line to see the eclipse in its totality. The closer you get to the center line of total eclipse, the longer you will be able to witness totality.
Please keep my hometown of Marion, the City of Kings, in your prayers. I can only imagine how hard the freaks will be barking in that humble city on the 8th.
If you enjoy my free dispatches or my tweets, you’ll love having the full weekly slate of Ohio’s depravity delivered to your in box.
I’d be honored if you sustained an independent voice in Ohio politics by subscribing to The Rooster. Nevertheless, even the free readership helps the cause@
This week in Ohio Man…
The Rooster has covered the trials and tribulations of Ohio Man in is Sisyphean struggle against law enforcement for about a year now. We’ve seen some pretty wild shit.
But I won’t lie, I never envisioned one of those installments featuring an Ohio Man who spent the last 40 years running from his responsibility in the Rwandan genocide.
From the Department of Justice:
BOSTON – An Ohio man was indicted today by a federal grand jury in Boston for a nearly three-decade scheme to conceal his alleged involvement in the 1994 Rwandan genocide, which left more than 800,000 people dead. The defendant was also charged with obstruction of justice and perjury for allegedly offering false testimony in the 2019 Boston trial of convicted Rwandan genocide perpetrator Jean Leonard Teganya.
It is alleged that the defendant participated in the killing of Tutsi men, women and children by striking them on the head with a nail-studded club and then hacking them to death with a machete.
Eric Tabaro Nshimiye, a/k/a Eric Tabaro Nshimiyimana, 52, of Uniontown, Ohio, was indicted on four counts of perjury; one count of obstruction of justice; and one count of engaging in a scheme to conceal material information from federal authorities. Nshimiye was previously arrested and charged by criminal complaint on March 21, 2024. Following an initial appearance in federal court in the Northern District of Ohio, Nshimiye was detained pending a detention hearing scheduled for March 31, 2024. He will appear in federal court in Boston at a later date.
I’m kind of fascinated by how a man fleeing his role in the Rwandan genocide decided to settle in Uniontown, a village in Stark County with a population of 7,000 people. I know some residents of Stark County would argue that was punishment enough.
It’s crazy that Nshimye got away with his crimes for 40 years. At that point, he had figured that he was probably in the clear. I guess the lesson here is that if you’re a war criminal on the lam, don’t commit perjury and obstruction of justice while testifying in a trial of one of your co-conspirators.
This week in The Rooster…
It’s been another solid week for The Business Line. Here is this week’s publishing slate for anyone that was too busy to receive the good word:
Who is D.J. Byrnes? With a lull in the political season, I detailed some personal lore about how I came to do what I do. It wasn’t a straight line to success if you can believe that! This dispatch, the most popular of the week, is free for all.
Good Lord, Cuyahoga County! Cleveland Building Trades executive David Wondolowski, one of the dirtiest players in Northeast Ohio politics and a financial donor to Larry Householder, somehow became the foreperson of the grand jury investigating the latest charges against the disgraced politician.
The sinecure shuffle. Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted, who has a burnt bag of microwave popcorn where his brain is supposed to be, is preparing for his gubernatorial run by installing another longtime loyalist at the legalized slush fund that is JobsOhio.
THOSE WMDs. Facilitated communication is a cult that won’t die… How child labor in India makes the paving stones beneath our feet… The Trump Machine: The inner circle preparing for a second term… A Colorado mother with no backcountry experience took her 13-year-old son to live off-grid on a 10,000-foot mountain in winter… The Devil’s Brigade in Helena, Montana.
