What do you want to see from The Rooster in 2023?
The Rooster wants to hear from YOU as we close the year.
The Rooster generally works like this: I spend the day reeling in literary labor, attempting to gauge the political winds to deliver a pertinent angle that my readers will find either informative or amusing. Preferably both.
At no earlier than 10 p.m., I sit down to work through whatever daily grievance I have spent the entire day stewing upon, edit the copy a couple times (surprise, haters!), schedule the post, and then go to bed.
I then awake to a flood of tributary “Great post, D.J.!” comments from the loyal members of President Xi Jinping’s Patriots Caucus. I then begin brainstorming my next daily beef.
That’s the extent of the operation. And while it hasn’t punched my ticket to Titty Island just yet, the business line continues its ascension.
Next year looks no different. And lord knows I’ll never run out of petty grievances to litigate, but I’ve got some plans to expand into doing more interviews. That may involve relaxing the publishing calendar, but I want to hear from you first.
I’d like to know more about my readers and what they’d like to see from their neighborhood communist blogger.
This is your chance. You can comment below, reply to this email, or write comment/question/story idea anonymously over on my jotform.
Speak now, or hold your peace for exactly 365 days. The choice is yours, dear reader! I hope to hear from you.
THOSE WMDs. What keeping a bullet journal taught me about using to-do list apps… Life in doll world… A Bolivian tin baron saved thousands of Jewish refugees… Why we’re drawn into darkness… The Tom Brady of other jobs.
Great post, D.J.!
DJ whether you want to realize it or not you are a columnist. Not the shitty corporate shills they have today but an old school one from 40’s to around the early 80’s when local and national news mattered for the story not “driving clicks” of course your readers (me I’m very average)have the attention span of a gnat so keep them around the same length. It’s ok to go to 1-3 times per week (in my opinion) with a few breaking news commentary or editorial when you see something egregious. You are more talented and braver than I could ever be in my life. Keep improving your craft!
