DJ whether you want to realize it or not you are a columnist. Not the shitty corporate shills they have today but an old school one from 40’s to around the early 80’s when local and national news mattered for the story not “driving clicks” of course your readers (me I’m very average)have the attention span of a gnat so keep them around the same length. It’s ok to go to 1-3 times per week (in my opinion) with a few breaking news commentary or editorial when you see something egregious. You are more talented and braver than I could ever be in my life. Keep improving your craft!

Wow. Thank you for your kind words and perspective, Mr. Socially Distant! Good to hear about the length, too. I'm the same way.

I’m curious why the Ohio Democratic Party can’t find and support a ballot full of doofuses plucked from obscurity like the Republicans seem to do. It can’t all be dark money, right?

Otherwise I’ll be paying close attention to your plans to leave Hellmouth. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for 20+ yrs but keep getting pulled back here.

Woof. This is a bit deeper than a comment but let me give it a go.

Ohio has a demographics problem. First and foremost. But the ODP compounds the problem with incompetent leadership. It's been bad for a few cycles now, but floor has completely fallen out of the operation. Senator Sherrod Brown is basically the last Democrat that will ever be elected statewide, and he'll likely lose in 2024.

I do not believe the ODP situation to be salvageable at this point, because again, it's not like we're gaining people like Arizona or Georgia.

Fair play - I had little expectations for an answer, but appreciate that you had one.

Keep doing what you've been doing, as long as it's working for you. Mostly I just want to be sure that you're able to do this sustainably and you're not burning yourself out. I'd prefer fewer posts if that means you're healthier.

Probably more specific than you're looking for but would really like someone to look into what is going on with Krieg Butler. Charges were dropped in late October which made sense if they were trying to charge felonies or a federal hate crime but there's been no news since and local news hasn't covered it since October 28. Is he just out walking the streets after gunning down a kid? Why weren't prosecutors ready to go to a grand jury immediately once they dropped the municipal court charges thus allowing such a lapse between dropping charges and indicting Butler? Racist white guy gunning down black kid in the Hilltops may not be shocking but how monumentally the prosecutors have dropped the ball is.

Unrelated, as someone that had been in recovery for over 8 years it has been really cool to see your periodic posts about your own journey getting sober. Keep up the great work!

Just been seeing this.

Would love to see more insight to Columbus City Council. Its really frustrating recently noticing the revolving door of city council and how we don't have actual elections.

I’d like to see more investigation into Cbus Council corruption, such as Liz Browns sudden resignation into an also suddenly vacated $200k a year gig at the YWCA (left by Coleman’s former Sep Cheif of Staff and his wife is on that board) making room for Mitch Brown to clearly get the nod to come back to do Coleman’s bidding. Or the $170k in public funds gifted to Coleman’s clients at the East Trolley Market. Beyond that, staying on top of the Householder trial, Statehouse criminals, and State agency manipulations.
