Rooster in Review: The Ryan Identity
A Reddit user falsely accused me of wrongdoing this morning. Sad!
Earlier this morning, The Rooster broke the news that Tim Ryan is no longer a registered Democratic voter and has had a campaign sign for a LifeWise-connected Republican outside his home since at least September 28, continuing until Thursday afternoon.
Hours after the dispatch hit the press, an anonymous Reddit user accused me of having “the wrong Tim Ryan,” and linked to a profile of Battelle executive Tim Ryan.
Now, I’m a big believer in the old adage that in politics, if you’re explaining, you’re losing. But this would be a rather devastating blunder on my part—if the accusation were true, which it isn’t.
It’s true that Battelle has an executive named Tim Ryan.
However, Battelle’s CEO is Timothy F. Ryan, as noted in his old Twitter profile during his days at Citi.
The voter file in question, as shown in the article, is Timothy John Ryan, which matches the full name of the former Democratic Congressman.
Timothy J. Ryan is married to Andrea Ryan, which also matches the two names on the deed of the $1.2 million home in question.
This confusion could have been prevented had people actually read the article, but that’s the world in which we live. And now there are at least 150 people who think I didn’t do my research.
Ah. Well. What can you do?
There is a minor point of correction, however: Left Hook Media broke up earlier this year, with partners Justin Barasky resigning in January. According to a well-placed source, Barasky backing Dr. Amy Acton and Hill staying in Ryan’s camp as “one of the big reasons” for the split.
As such, Left Hook Media will not be in the lucrative position of consulting for both candidates in a Democratic gubernatorial primary, should Ryan go through with his teasing of entering the race.
It’s unclear why Hill hasn’t updated the Left Hook Media website in the past 10 months, as it incorrectly lists Barasky as a partner.
Normally, I would fire the intern for the error. But since he had the methane lobbyist dead to rights, I’m in a forgiving mood.
We move!
This week in Ohio Man…
Folks, don’t be deceived by that kindly picture of Toledo resident Jeanita Hopings. It would appear she’s a stone-cold criminal who will take justice into her own hands.
From Liam Quinn of PEOPLE:
An Ohio woman is accused of breaking into her boyfriend’s house and cutting his scrotum open.
Police in Toledo, Ohio filed warrants, obtained by PEOPLE, for the arrest of Jeanita Hopings, 45, on charges of felonious assault and aggravated burglary, in connection with the incident.
Hopings allegedly “forcefully kicked open the front door” of her boyfriend’s home on Tuesday, Oct. 7, according to one of the warrants. Police claim that Hopings then entered the home without permission.
Once inside, police allege, Hopings cut the victim’s testicle sac with an “unknown instrument.”
Listen… I don’t want to blame the victim. But I don’t think having a woman kick down your door and cut open your testicle sac with an “unknown instrument” is something that happens out of the blue.
Because look at that mugshot! Even when faced with the consequences of her actions, Ms. Hopings seemed quite proud of her actions.
This week in The Rooster…
It was another brisk week of business at Rooster Worldwide LLC:
When freedom rings. Legendary former state representative Bill Seitz is doing Bill Seitz things behind the scenes as the state trial of Larry Householder nears, according to one prominent Republican.
My good friend the governor has a point. The Rooster broke the story about Governor Mike DeWine moving against “intoxicating hemp.” Here’s why I agree with him—something I never would have suspected only a few years ago.
When chickens come home to roost. A dispatch from Cleveland, Ohio that covers Columbus City Schools ending bussing for high schoolers, State Senator Jerry Cirino falling short in his bid for the chamber’s presidency, and my planned testimony in opposition to HB-324 in front of the Ohio House Committee.
Tim Ryan isn’t a registered Democrat. Former Congressman Tim Ryan apparently hasn’t voted in a Democratic primary since he (presumably) voted for himself in 2022. More damaging to his prospects for the 2026 gubernatorial nomination, he’s had a campaign sign for a LifeWise-connected Republican outside his home since at least Sept. 28.
We’ll do it again next week at the same time and place.
Until then… stay frosty, my friends!
